February 22, 2018 – Redpark Product Development is now shipping the Redpark Lightning to Ethernet Cable for iPhone and iPad.
"While wireless networking meets the needs of many iPhone and iPad users, there are times when it is desirable to connect to ethernet” explained Redpark President Mike Ridenhour. “In some instances Wi-FI may not be available. Even when Wi-Fi is present ethernet can deliver higher reliability and lower latency that may be beneficial for use cases such a live video streaming."
Redpark's existing Gigabit POE and AC powered ethernet/charging adaptors (combined with the L90-B series of Lightning cables) are invaluable for fixed location or infrastructure use. But there has been a need for a highly portable and cheaper ethernet adaptor for iPad and iPhone. The Lightning to Ethernet cable adds this option to the existing Redpark product range.
The Ethernet Cable is a specialty form of USB 2.0 to Ethernet adapter. When connected to an iPad or iPhone running iOS 10 or later, the Ethernet Cable is recognized as a network connection and can be configured in the Settings app on the iOS device.
The Ethernet Cable (part# L5-NET) is licensed under Apple's "Made for iPhone" (MFi) program, and is available from today on the Redpark.AU store.
